HIPAA & You
- HIPAA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, is federal legislation that creates national standards for the way your health information is used. Under sections of this law that are effective April 14, 2003, health care providers are required to:
- 1. Provide you with a Notice of Privacy Practices and encourage you to read it carefully.
- 2. Give you the opportunity to sign an acknowledgment form after you have read the Notice. Please note that the law does not require you to sign the form. However, if after reading the Notice of Privacy Practices, you wish to do so, you may complete an on-line Acknowledgment Form. Doing this on-line will save time when you check in for your next appointment at the Clinic.
